The company originated as a family-run business in the northern province of Lampang, where the largest coal-fired power plant in Thailand – EGAT Mae Moh – was located. From here, we served our primary customer, the state-owned Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT).

While EGAT had once been the sole source of power generation in Thailand, the country’s energy sector landscape began to change in the 1990s. The Thai government established the National Energy Policy Council (NEPO) in 1992 and put an end to EGAT’s longstanding monopoly on power generation, opening the door to the independent power producers (IPPs) and small power producers (SPPs) that would, in turn, sell electricity to EGAT. Today NEPO is called the Energy Policy & Planning Office (EPPO).

To provide these emerging private companies with the service and support they required, three additional offices were established in the strategic locations of Rayong on the Eastern Seaboard, Khanom in the South and the capital of Bangkok as coordinator office providing us with a network that covers virtually every power plant in Thailand. With a well-trained sales force on the ground at each of these sites and long-standing relationships with our customers and suppliers, we can provide numerous value-added services quickly, efficiently, and affordably.

In cases where a high degree of technical expertise is required, our supplier partners provide an expert to assist on the ground at the customer’s site. Sahakol often functions as a systems integrator, sourcing and organizing, not just machinery and equipment, but a local workforce to support the specialists supplied by our partners. This strong commitment to customer service is reflected in our repeat business.
